An Open Letter To "Anyone Who Has Ever Asked, “What Am I Actually Supposed to Do With My Life?”

you Cant Keep Hiding it

You already know something is missing.

You wake up.

Go to work.

Go to school.

Run your business.

Serve in church.

Take care of your responsibilities.

From the outside, your life may look completely fine.

But underneath it all, there’s a question you keep coming back to:

“What am I actually supposed to do with my life?”

Maybe you’ve asked yourself that question more times than you can count.

You know you have potential.

You know there’s something inside you.

Something you could build, create, or contribute that could change your life—and possibly the lives of other people.

But knowing you have potential isn’t the same as knowing what to do with it.

And that’s where your Journey must Begin.

You see someone your age building a career they love.

Someone else is running a successful business.

Someone else seems to have found meaningful work and a clear direction.

And you quietly wonder:

“How did they figure it out while I’m still trying to figure myself out?”

You’ve probably tried to find the answer.

You’ve prayed.

You’ve watched YouTube videos.

Read books.

Listened to sermons.

Maybe you’ve attended conferences or followed people who seem to have everything figured out.

You’ve even asked people you trust—your parents, friends, pastor, mentors, or teachers.

They’ve given you advice because they genuinely want the best for you.

But somehow, after all the advice and information, you’re still asking the same question:

“What am I supposed to do with my life?”

Maybe you’ve even tried different paths.

A job.

A business.

A new skill.

A ministry role.

And yes, some things worked for a while.

Then the feeling came back.

Something is still missing.

And if that sounds like you, I want you to consider something.

Maybe you don’t need more advice.

Maybe you need to stop for a moment and take an honest look at the person you already are.

Your gifts.

Your strengths.

Your personality.

Your experiences.

The things you naturally care about.

The problems you find yourself wanting to solve.

The things people consistently come to you for.

The patterns that have followed you through different seasons of your life.

What if those things are not random?

What if they are clues?

I didn’t always think about purpose that way.

I had to Discover This For Myself.

There was a period in my life when I was doing what seemed normal.

School.

More education.

Trying to make progress.

Doing the things people expected me to do.

Nothing was terribly wrong.

But I didn’t have a clear picture of where my life was going.

I knew I wanted my life to matter.

I knew I wanted to help people.

I knew there were things I enjoyed doing.

But I couldn’t explain how all those pieces fitted together.

I was moving forward, but I wasn’t sure where I was going.

Then I attended a workshop.

Interestingly, it wasn’t about purpose.

It was about marriage.

I went there expecting to learn about marriage.

I didn’t expect it to change how I thought about my life.

But during the workshop, the woman teaching said something that stayed with me.

She explained that the season before marriage shouldn’t simply be a season of waiting to get married.

It should be a season of discovering yourself—your gifts, your calling, and what you were created to do.

That statement made me stop.

“Have I actually taken the time to discover myself?”

I had spent years going to school and learning.

But I hadn’t seriously sat down to ask:

“Why am I wired this way?

Why do I enjoy these things?

Why do people keep coming to me for certain things?

What do my experiences have to do with what I’m supposed to do?”

Those questions started a different kind of search.

I began looking at my own life differently.

I studied my gifts and personality.

I looked at my experiences.

I paid attention to the things I had always been drawn toward.

And I began asking God more specific questions.

Instead of only asking:

“God, what is my purpose?”

I started asking:

“What have You put inside me?

What problems am I naturally drawn to?

Who do I feel called to help?

What can I do for a long time without feeling like I’m forcing myself?

What have people consistently noticed about me?”

I also found a program focused on purpose discovery and I happily paid and went through it carefully.

I read.

I listened.

I prayed.

I reflected.

And slowly, the pieces began to connect.

The things I had considered random interests weren’t as random as I thought.

The experiences I had gone through weren’t completely disconnected.

The gifts I had developed over the years were pointing in a particular direction.

For the first time, I could look at different parts of my life and see how they connected.

That was the turning point.

I wasn’t simply trying to find a job anymore.

I was beginning to understand why I was here and how I could use what God had placed inside me.

That clarity changed the way I thought about my future.

It changed the way I made decisions.

And eventually, it became one of the reasons I decided to help other people go through their own process of discovering purpose.

But there was another important lesson I learned.

Not every source of advice can give you the answer you’re looking for.

A friend can give you advice, but your friend isn’t living your life.

A career assessment can suggest possible careers, but it cannot understand your entire story.

Someone else’s success can inspire you, but their path isn’t automatically your path.

And constantly copying what works for someone else can leave you even more confused.

You can consume information for years and still not know what to do.

Because sometimes, you don’t need more information.

You need to make sense of the information you already have.

That means stepping back and looking at your life as a whole.

Your gifts.

Your personality.

Your experiences.

Your values.

Your faith.

Your interests.

Your strengths.

And the problems you feel drawn to solve.

Then asking one important question:

“How do these things fit together?”

Because underneath all your questions is something deeper.

You want to know that you are not wasting your life.

You want to use what God has given you.

You want to stop comparing yourself with everyone else.

You want to make important decisions without constantly wondering if you’re making the wrong choice.

You want to wake up knowing that what you’re working toward actually matters.

You don’t just want someone to hand you a career suggestion.

You want clarity you can actually live with.

You want to be able to say:

“This is who I am.

These are the gifts I have.

This is the direction that makes sense for me.

And this is what I need to do next.”

That’s the kind of clarity I want to help you work toward.

And that’s why I created the Purpose Discovery Consulting Practice.

My name is Charles Emmanuel, and I work with young adults and professionals who feel confused, stuck, or unfulfilled and want to understand their gifts, calling, and direction more clearly.

This isn’t about me sitting across from you and declaring:

“This is your purpose.”

I don’t believe purpose discovery works that way.

Instead, we work through your story.

We examine your experiences.

We identify your strengths and gifts.

We explore your personality and values.

And we look for patterns in the things you’ve done and the things people consistently recognize in you.

Then we connect the pieces.

  • If you already have an idea of what you want to do, we’ll examine whether that direction fits who you are.

  • If you have several options and don’t know which one to pursue, we’ll work through them.

  • If you honestly have no idea what you want to do, that’s okay. You don’t have to come with an answer.

That’s what we’ll work on together.

Depending on what you need, we may have one focused consulting session or several sessions with practical reflection between them.

The process is built around your life, not forcing you into a fixed formula.

And when we’re finished, I want you to have:

  • A clearer understanding of your gifts and strengths

  • A clearer picture of the patterns that have shaped your life

  • A better understanding of the kinds of problems you may be equipped to solve

  • A purpose statement written in words that actually make sense to you

  • Practical next steps for moving forward

  • A simple framework for thinking through important decisions in the future.

Because purpose discovery isn’t about having every detail of your future figured out.

It’s about having enough clarity to know what to do next.

And you don’t have to have your life figured out before you book a session.

You don’t have to know your purpose.

You don’t have to know which career you want.

You don’t even need to know exactly what questions to ask.

Bring your uncertainty.

Bring the questions you’ve been carrying.

Bring the parts of your life that don’t seem to make sense yet.

We’ll start there.

Now let’s talk about the commitment.

So, How Much Does This Cost?

Honestly, I could charge $199 for a one-hour Purpose Discovery Session, and I believe it would still be worth it.

Because we’re not simply having a motivational conversation.

We’re taking a serious look at your life—your gifts, strengths, personality, experiences, values, interests, and the patterns that may be pointing toward your direction.

And you’ll leave with a clearer understanding of yourself and practical next steps for moving forward.

But there’s another cost worth considering.

The cost of staying confused.

Another year in a career that doesn’t fit you.

Another year jumping from one thing to another.

Another year comparing yourself with people who seem to know where they’re going.

Another year knowing you have potential but not knowing how to use it.

Those years can cost far more than $199.

But I’m not charging $199 right now.

I’m currently opening this practice to a small number of people as I build and refine the Purpose Discovery Consulting Practice.

So, for now, your first session is available for just $49 per hour.

That doesn’t mean the work is worth only $49.

No.

It means I want more people to have the opportunity to experience the process while I’m still building the practice.

But I don’t expect this price to stay here forever.

As the practice grows and the process becomes more refined, the regular price will increase.

So if you’ve been thinking about getting clarity about your purpose, this is a good time to start.

For now, you can book your Purpose Discovery Session for $49.

And because I want you to feel confident taking that first step, there’s one more thing you should know:

If you finish our session without having a clearer understanding of your purpose, direction, and values than you had before we started, I’ll refund your payment.

You have very little to lose by having the conversation—and potentially years of confusion to avoid.

Here is Another Sobering Fact

You can find plenty of free information about purpose online.

You can take another test.

Watch another video.

Read another book.

And those things can be useful.

But if you’ve already spent months or years searching and still don’t have clarity, perhaps what you need now is a focused conversation about your life.

That’s what this is for.

And I don’t expect one session to answer every question about your entire life.

But I do expect our time together to give you something useful to move forward with.

If it doesn’t, you shouldn’t have to pay for it.

So here’s what happens next.

Click the button below and book your Purpose Discovery Session.

Once you book, I’ll personally reach out to confirm your appointment and send you a few questions to think about before we meet.

That way, when we sit down together, we can spend our time talking about you—your story, your gifts, your questions, and where you want to go from here.

I only take a limited number of people each month because I want to give each person enough attention to do this properly.

And now, I want you to think about one question.

Imagine that a year from now, you’re still asking:

“What am I supposed to do with my life?”

You’re still watching free videos.

Having sleepless nights.

Comparing yourself with other people.

Wondering whether you chose the right career.

Asking God for direction.

What would another year of that uncertainty cost you?

Now imagine something different.

Imagine having a clearer understanding of who you are.

Knowing your strongest gifts.

Understanding the kind of work and problems you are naturally drawn toward.

Having a clearer sense of your calling.

And, most importantly, knowing what your next step should be.

You may not have every detail of your future figured out.

But you won’t be standing in the same place.

And that’s the opportunity in front of you right now.

You don’t have to wait until everything becomes clear before you take the first step.

You don’t need another person’s life to copy.

You don’t need to become someone else.

You need to understand the person God has already made you to be—and start moving in the right direction.

Your gifts matter.

Your experiences matter.

The things you care about matter.

And the questions you’ve been asking matter.

So don’t leave this page with the same question you came with.

Take the first step toward answering it.

Book your Purpose Discovery Session.

Let’s sit down together, look at your life carefully, connect the pieces, and begin working out where you are going and why.

You may not be able to see the whole road yet.

But you can take the next step towards a better and more rewarding future.
